A Collaborative Approach to Effective Autism Training for First Responders
The DNEA presented a in-person workshop, A Collaborative Approach to Effective Autism Training for First Responders, that explored the roadmap the DNEA followed in establishing an award-winning interdisciplinary autism training for first responders. The DNEA led a robust discussion on how to align with best practices in adult learning and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to discussing disability.

The DNEA provided a webinar, Supporting Mental Health of Autistic Individuals, intended for school psychologists who are committed to creating a more inclusive and affirming mental health system of supports for autistic youth in schools. The training focused on delivering sensitive, non-judgmental care within school-based mental health intervention.

An Interdisciplinary Approach to Promoting Accessible and Inclusive Healthcare for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
The DNEA presented a poster at AUCD that provided an overview of how an information dissemination campaign was used in conjunction with a statewide professional training and technical assistance package to address health inequity among people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Strengthening Communication Between First Responders & Autistic People
This poster session at AUCD outlined the structure, content, and outcomes of a statewide first responders autism training program that provides first responders with the knowledge and skills to identify, understand, and respond appropriately to individuals with autism. The presentation highlighted training objectives and deliverables, including ideas on expanding outreach into other state sectors, including disaster preparedness and the criminal justice system, and offering mock traffic stops for autistic drivers.
