1:00 pm: Supporting Family-led Development Monitoring. Learn the Signs. Act Early: Provider Training

July 25, 2023

New legislation (HB202) will require that all childcare centers engage in developmental screening using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ). The LTSAE training, Supporting Family-Led Developmental Monitoring, will help prepare you for this important change that is coming to Delaware.

This training will:

  • introduce participants to the importance of developmental monitoring;
  • provide an overview of the state’s developmental screener – the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ);
  • explain the state’s process for referring children to early intervention services; and
  • describe the types of early intervention services available to different ages of children.

Please note:  There are two ways to attend the Learn the Signs. Act Early. provider training, Supporting Family-Led Developmental Monitoring: DIEEC/STARS Continuing Education Credits or Eventbrite.  Please navigate to the “Registration” link below for more information.

12:00 pm: PROVIDING NEURODIVERSITY-AFFIRMING CARE TO AUTISTIC YOUTH AND FAMILIES

July 26, 2023

Autistic individuals and their families deserve culturally competent care that allows them to feel understood, valued, and accepted. This requires a shift from traditional medical models of care that heavily pathologize autism, to a neurodiversity-affirming model that celebrates differences while providing appropriate recommendations to meet support needs.

This training will address considerations in providing neurodiversity-affirming care to autistic individuals and families from an intersectional lens. We will discuss neurodiversity-affirming language and practices during the diagnostic assessment process, when delivering diagnostic feedback, and in treatment planning.
